We focus on one thing only – improving business performance. It is so tempting to offer all sorts of HR interventions as over the years we have carried all types of HR based projects for clients – e.g. recruitment, training, management development, policies and procedures, disciplinary and grievance meetings, redundancy. However, when a client needs serious assistance in their business, they should seek an expert in the subject.

For example, we are happy to visit our GP for a health check, get an opinion on a condition or treatment for a relatively minor ailment. After all, he / she has wide knowledge of health matters. However, if your need is serious, debilitating or even life threatening, you will wish to be treated by an expert consultant or surgeon who specialises in your condition.

Any business can improve its performance if it is prepared to invest in increasing the skills of managing people by its management team. It is quite rare for a manager to be lacking the skills in his / her choice of occupation as they have normally spent years learning what’s necessary to become successful in their career. This success often leads to promotion to manager status because they are successful in what they do. However, it is equally rare for those promoted to management to receive any training and / or preparation in how to get the best out of people. This is the main reason why so many employees feel disconnected and unhappy at work.

This is where NSL-HR focuses its attention when working with clients.

Now onto NSL – HR name. Where has this come from?

A quick decision was needed some time ago about a name for the business and looking back now, it looks like inspirational thinking was in short supply. However, it hasn’t turned out too bad as making personal face to face contact works a whole lot better than the given name for the business. BY the way, NSL were the initials of the full name of a previous company.

Also, looking around the business arena, there are many successful organisations who have names based on initials – e.g. BP, BMW, CBS, MCC, PGA, DHL, P&G etc. etc. So, it looks as if we are in good company, although we might need to up our marketing budget to compete with these giants!
